Delete your EZ GPS account
This page is for people who use the EZ GPS app and want their account, and the data linked to it, deleted. You can do it in the app, on this page, or by emailing us. Deleting is permanent.
Before you start: your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription you bought through the App Store or Google Play. Those stores charge you, not us, so only you can stop it. Cancel it first, or you will keep being charged.
- iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose EZ GPS and tap Cancel Subscription. Or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
- Android: open Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, choose EZ GPS and tap Cancel subscription. Or go to Google Play subscriptions.
If you cannot cancel it yourself, email us and we will help you do it.
Option 1: delete it in the app
- Open EZ GPS and sign in.
- Open Settings, then Profile.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
It takes effect straight away.
Option 2: delete it here, without the app
If you signed up with an email address and a password, you can delete the account on this page. You sign in once to prove the account is yours, then confirm.
Signed up with Google or Apple, or forgotten your password? Use the email option below: those accounts have no password to sign in with here.
Option 3: ask us by email
Email privacy@ezgps.app from the email address your EZ GPS account uses and say you want it deleted. This works if you signed up with Google or Apple, if you forgot your password, or if you cannot use the app.
- We may reply to check that the request really comes from the account's owner.
- We delete the account within 7 days of confirming it, and tell you when it is done.
- If you have a subscription, we will remind you to cancel it in the App Store or Google Play, as above.
- We keep your email and our reply only as long as needed to deal with your request, and then delete them.
What is deleted
When your account is deleted, straight away and for good:
- Your saved addresses.
- Every location share you sent, and the record of who it went to or who opened it, and the record that you opened shares other people sent you.
- Your help requests and the messages in them.
- Your notifications.
- Your Beacons: each is unpaired from you, and its reported status history (battery, last contact) is deleted. The Beacon itself can then be paired by someone else.
- Your Google or Apple sign-in link. If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to remove EZ GPS from your Apple ID's list of apps you signed in to.
- Your email address and password: the email address is replaced by text that identifies no one, and the password is destroyed. You are signed out and nobody can sign in to the account again.
Places you searched for and the directions you looked up are not kept against your account, so there is nothing to delete for them (apart from the 30-day request log described below).
What we keep, and for how long
- Billing records. The record of your subscription (plan, dates, status, and the App Store or Google Play reference for the purchase) and of any Beacon you added with a code from the box. These are kept for as long as tax, accounting or other law requires us to keep payment records, and for no other purpose. They stay attached to the deleted account's identifier but no longer to your email address or anything else that names you.
- A log of important actions on the account, such as it being deleted (and when, and by whom) or our team granting access. It contains no personal details. We keep it as evidence that your request was carried out.
- Short-lived technical copies. Our servers log each request (the time, the internet address it came from and the full web address asked for, which for a place search includes the position and the words searched) and delete those logs automatically after 30 days. The log does not contain your account number or email address. Our database provider keeps a short rolling backup history, which is currently 6 hours, and deleted data drops out of it as it expires.
Other organisations. Apple or Google keep your subscription and payment details under their own policies: we cannot delete those, and you manage them in your App Store or Google Play account. Place searches are answered with the help of Mapbox and OpenStreetMap data; we send them what you searched for and a position, not your account, and they handle it under their own policies. Our privacy policy lists these.
If the law of your country gives you other rights over your data, such as seeing it, or asking us to restrict how it is used, email us at the address above.
